Jared Padalecki teases Supernatural reboot with Jensen Ackles for 2025

Jared Padalecki has, more than any time before, teased an official Supernatural reboot for 2025 – at least, he would like to start filming it alongside Jensen Ackles by then.

Talks of the 15-season hit series returning have been higher than ever this past year as its two stars Padalecki and Ackles have continued to express their interest in returning as the Winchesters.

While talking with Tommy DiDario on his I’ve Never Said This Before podcast, Padalecki opened up about how he’s more than ready to “put the flannel [shirt] on and play Sam Winchester.”

When asked if doing a Supernatural reboot is something that he would “really think about doing”, Padalecki told DiDario that he and Ackles are “eager” to get back into the Impala.

“I will say this, I don’t want to do another fifteen years of Supernatural,” he told DiDario.

He added: “I don’t want to do another five years of Supernatural.”

However, he says he is “dying to do a reboot of Supernatural.”

Padalecki went on to compare his reboot idea to how Gilmore Girls returned to screens.

“Here are four one-and-a-half-hour episodes, we’ll shoot it in three months,” he suggested.

He added: “I think Jensen [Ackles] and I both said in 2020, like ‘We’d love to revisit these characters, this world, give us five years.’”

“Which is next year [2025],” he teased.

He went on to state how he sees Ackles “often” and how they are both “really eager to do it.”

“I think he and I both are really eager to do it,” he said during the podcast.

“I’m certain I’ll put the flannel on and play Sam Winchester,” he added.

CoveredGeekly has reported in the past how Padalecki has expressed his interest in rebooting Supernatural as a limited series with less but longer episodes.

Now, Padalecki’s schedule has opened up since his Walker series was cancelled at The CW, which he revealed has allowed him to enter discussions to star in the final season of The Boys.

“We have talked [about a role],” Padalecki told Deadline in June.

He added: “As a matter of fact, we talked today.”

Although it’s unclear who Padalecki will be playing in the fifth and final season of Prime Video’s The Boys series, which is run by his ex-Supernatural boss Eric Kripke, it’s highly expected he will indeed be starring in the show.

Considering that it’s likely a Supernatural reboot won’t be heading to The CW anytime soon, some have theorised that it could potentially get a green light over at Prime Video.
