Millie Bobby Brown almost ‘quit acting’ after losing major role to Bella Ramsey

Millie Bobby Brown may be one of Hollywood’s more prominent female stars with roles such as Eleven in Stranger Things and as Sherlock Holmes’ little sister Enola, however, that wasn’t always the case.

When talking with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Brown spoke up about the time she auditioned to play Lyanna Mormont in the hit series Game of Thrones, which later ended up going to The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey.

Both Brown and Ramsey were far younger at the time and have since grown to become extremely successful.

When asked by Fallon if she was originally going to “quit acting” after losing the role to Ramsey, Brown admitted that she was ready to throw in the towel after being rejected so many times.

“I think I was just very disheartened by the rejection which is something that I tell everyone, is like, ‘this industry is such full of rejection 24/7′,” Brown began explaining to Fallon.

“You get no’s – a lot of no’s – before you get a yes,” she added.

She continued: “I was auditioning for commercials, for anything really, I then auditioned for Game of Thrones and I got a no for that and then that’s when I was kinda like ‘Oh, this is really difficult.’”

“So, I guess I really wanted that role.”

Although the Stranger Things star almost left it all behind after being told “no” by Game of Thrones, she revealed that getting a callback for “Mantauk” at Netflix gave her hope again.

“Mauntauk” later became the worldwide hit series that is Stranger Things.

“So, one of my last kind of goes at this was this Netflix show called Montauk, and I auditioned, and like two months later they got back to us and they were like, ‘Hey, we’d love to Skype with you’ and then I skyped with them.”

She added: “And you know, the rest is history, of course we then named the show Stranger Things.”

“[Stranger Things] was definitely the one that kind of gave me that hope of doing it all again.”

Brown is set to reprise the role of Eleven for the fifth time in Netflix’s upcoming final season of the show, which millions of excited fans are eagerly waiting for.

Terminator star Linda Hamilton is also set to join the series for the first time in the next season, however, it’s still unclear as to who she will be playing for the show’s final outing.

Ramsey is also set to reprise another extremely popular role, Ellie in the live-action series adaptation of The Last of Us in its upcoming second season.
